Our Vision & Team

FINDING THE NEED

Honduras remains one of the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere, where basic needs often go unmet, and opportunities for advancement are scarce. Many families struggle daily to secure food, shelter, and other essentials, leaving little room for growth or progress. In remote mountain villages, the situation is even more dire:
  • Many lack access to electricity or running water.
  • Children grow up without proper clothing, shoes, or even basic nutrition.
  • Families construct makeshift homes of mud, sticks, cardboard, and any available material just to survive.

Teen pregnancy and young marriages are tragically common, perpetuating cycles of instability. Spiritual needs also go unmet, as numerous villages have no church, no pastor, and no space to gather and find hope.
However, the solution isn’t just about providing resources—it’s about equipping people with the skills and tools they need to succeed in their own context. Tree of Life Ministries is committed to empowering individuals and families through practical training.

Whether it’s teaching agricultural techniques, vocational skills, or sustainable practices, our focus is on equipping communities to create lasting change for themselves.
By addressing both physical and spiritual needs, we are determined to break the cycle of poverty and bring transformation to these communities—one family, one village, and one life at a time.

 MEETING THE NEED

At Tree of Life Ministries, we use every resource and strategy available to meet the real and pressing needs of communities in Honduras. We bring practical solutions to address physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges through the collaboration of dedicated staff,  volunteers, short-term mission teams, international partnerships, and generous donors.

CHANGING THE NATION

Equipping a New Generation with Life and Vocational Skills

For over 30 years, Plan Escalón served as a beacon of hope, providing education to hundreds of young men and women. While this initiative was instrumental in transforming lives and equipping students to excel in their communities, the evolving needs of the people in Honduras have shifted our focus.

Today, Tree of Life Ministries is dedicated to training individuals with life and vocational skills that empower them to succeed in the unique context of Honduras. By leveraging our campus and partnerships with regional churches, we create opportunities for men, women, and youth to develop practical abilities, sustainable trades, and spiritual growth.
    •    Practical Training: We now focus on equipping individuals with skills such as reforestation, welding, construction, marketing, finance, and entrepreneurship—tools that enable them to build self-sufficient lives.
    •    Community Empowerment: Graduates of our programs are encouraged to reinvest their skills and knowledge back into their communities, becoming leaders, role models, and change agents.
    •    A Foundation in Faith: Every program is rooted in biblical principles, ensuring that participants not only grow vocationally but spiritually, carrying the love of Christ into their families and communities.
    •    A Focus on Sustainability: By addressing both physical and spiritual poverty, we aim to break cycles of dependence and foster a culture of hope, dignity, and resilience.

…Improving Quality of Life

Access to Resources: Unreached villages are gaining access to essential services such as electricity, potable water, and sustainable solutions for daily living, transforming entire communities.
Practical Skills Training: Children, youth, and adults in high mountain villages and remote areas are receiving life-changing training in trades, agriculture, and other skills to build self-sufficient futures.
The Mosquito Coast Mission: This isolated region is being transformed through outreach efforts that provide medical training, life skills, and tools for sustainable living, bringing hope and opportunity to the jungle region of Honduras.
Spiritual Transformation: Beyond the physical, lives are being renewed through the miraculous, life-changing power of God. Individuals are encountering the “living gospel” and passing on faith and hope to the next generation.

At Tree of Life Ministries, our mission is to bring holistic transformation—meeting both physical and spiritual needs—to ensure lasting change for families and communities across Honduras.

Though Plan Escalón has come to complete its course, its legacy lives on in the countless lives it touched and in the renewed vision we now carry forward. Together, we are meeting the needs of today and building a brighter tomorrow for Honduras.

Meet Our DIRECTORS

Since 1998, I have had the honor of serving as the Executive Director of Tree of Life Ministries Spanish America, an international missions organization dedicated to empowering lives and transforming communities in Honduras. Over the years, our mission has equipped local leaders, supported vulnerable populations, and provided training opportunities that have prepared over 10,000 youth with practical skills and renewed hope for a brighter future. We have also planted over 100 churches that are actively transforming their local communities. By God’s grace, we have witnessed over 40,000 people come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior—a powerful testament to His faithfulness and transformative love.

At the heart of our work is a guiding principle: “Find the need, meet the need, and change the nation.” This vision inspires us to build relationships, create pathways to self-sustainability, and equip leaders to make a lasting impact in their communities. Everything we do is rooted in faith, servant leadership, and a commitment to advancing the Kingdom of God.

My wife, Ingris, and I are passionate about equipping leaders, pastors, and organizations to expand their influence by understanding and embracing the cultural language of the communities they serve. We firmly believe that meaningful change happens when we take the time to listen, learn, and align our strategies with the unique needs of those we serve. Together, we are dedicated to creating sustainable, faith-driven transformation in Honduras and beyond.

Our Journey and Purpose

Our leadership journey hasn’t been a straight or easy path. As a young man, I often felt like an outsider—bullied, rejected, and unsure of where I belonged. Those experiences shaped my heart for the marginalized and instilled in me a passion for empowering others. Together, my wife and I have embraced our role as “Divine Disruptors”—challenging the status quo to bring hope, transformation, and empowerment where it’s needed most.

Through our mission work and leadership development programs, our ultimate goal is to equip people globally with the tools they need to thrive. We are passionate about helping others discover their unique purpose, embrace their God-given influence, and create meaningful, lasting change in their communities and beyond.

Testimonial

*“Dr. Guy Henry has been a ‘catalytic converter’ for my life, creating transformational change for The House Church where I pastor. By identifying the ‘smog’ of limitations that clouded my thinking, he helped me develop renewed strength and capacity.

As a missionary and life coach, his ability to unearth hidden potential through depth-charged questions has inspired growth and impact. Our church has nearly doubled in attendance, and his training on interpersonal relationships and communication techniques has strengthened and empowered our leadership teams.

Dr. Guy Henry is an influential leader who continues to enhance The House’s purpose, design, and destiny.”*
